Great little shop. Affordable prices, friendly service. Tan by a cute Korean family, who always greets me with a smile. Food is tasty, and great value. This small business is a gem. The cash only part is unfortunate, as I would come more often if I carried cash. I work in the area so it's an easy lunch spot when I have failed to pack a lunch. Would recommend.

This business is operated by my friend who used to attend the same catholic church as I did and the food tastes amazing. I wish I can make food like them. This is a five star deli place and you definitely should try this deli place especially if you are around DC area.

this place is rad. super delicious and really inexpensive. Mr Simon is friendly and the kitchen is spotless. Egg sausage cheese sandwich is unbeatable. Oysters are pretty sold considering the price. Lot's of buddies tell me the fish sandwich is top notch too. cash only!

I lived close to Tiki for a while now and walked by many times. I was heading home from local coffeeshop where I was reading Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential and was inspired to stop in this hole in the wall. Someone else wrote that it feels reminiscent of a small family run Chinese takeout place. That person is correct, however Tiki offers wings, fish, burgers and chicken sandwich related dishes. The basics, don't expect magic. They also have what seems like bodega style egg sandwiches all day (they open at 7am). I believe all the breakfast sandwiches were THREE DOLLARS OR LESS (cheaper than Dacha which charges you north of TEN DOLLARS). I will go back to Tiki to try the breakfast sandwiches. I went before dinner and had the fish sandwich (whole wheat bread, fried white(?) fish, lettuce, tomato and onion with a side of fries for $8 (at the max). It was pretty good, definitely got the job done and tasted how a fried fish sandwich should taste. From what I could tell, the place seemed well maintained for what it was. Will I go back for casual takeout? Yes. Will I go back for the breakfast sandwich? Most definitely. Should you go? Yes. Should you go with high standards? No. Just wing it and enjoy it. Cash only (I believe, I paid cash but other reviewers have said this). Edit: I am looking at this eatery through the perspective of what the place is & what it is trying to be.

Great little spot for standard American fare take away along with some basic seafood and breakfast items. It reminds me of the neighborhood chinese food take out spots in the bad neighborhoods in Baltimore. Walk in to one room with plastic walls between the employees and the waiting area. I've only had their cheese steak subs, but those are by far the best in the area. They don't take cards or deliver, so it's take away and cash only (there's no ATM in there either, so you have to hit an ATM at one of the three convenience shops -- Tana, 7-11 or the Dollar Store -- on 7th if you don't have cash on you). Definitely worth a look if you want a cheese steak and a pepsi or something similar. Parking is street parking and not super available so probably better to walk or bike. There's a Capital Bikeshare location one block away at 7th and R.

Tiki is literally a little corner hole in the wall in the Shaw neighborhood. I lived only 1 block from this place and it soon became one of my favorites carry out. The place is minimalistic, literaaly 8 by 8, a small foyer that leads you to a window where you make your order and a bench where you wait. Tiki is for pick up only, they offer mostly good old American food, cheese steaks, fries, burgers, fried catfish. The best thing in the menu is the fried chicken. I have tried plenty of wanna be fried chicken places in DC and none compare to this most superb fry chicken I have ever had in my life (except my own obviously). I have heard from many people that Tiki does have the best fried chicken in town, so I am not alone in my belief. Accompany this with their delightful sweet tea and you will feel like you are down in the South...well then DC is technically the south.
